3D Metal Printing Powders
New possibilities for optimisation of design and properties.
A new and flexible way to produce parts, additive manufacturing is offering new possibilities for optimisation of design and properties. Tooling is an optimal application for additive manufacturing with high demands, short series, complex geometries, and an ever-increasing demand for shorter lead times.
So far there have been limited materials to choose from when it comes to printing metal parts. Mostly, they have been developed to be easy to print, not in response to demands from the applications. This is a bit unfortunate, since the new technology also brings possibilities for optimising the materials—and that is what Bohler and Uddeholm want to do using their expertise in tooling materials.
Uddeholm and Bohler develop alloys which focus on the application to bring maximum added value to the user while still being able to be printed.
